Tips For Foot Care When You Work On Your Feet

Posted on

If you have a job that keeps you on your feet all day such as waitressing, cashiering, sales or anything else where you don't get a lot of time to sit down and give your feet a break, then you definitely want to make sure you pamper them once you get home at the end of the day. You also want to make sure you do certain things while you are at work that will help you to put as little stress on your feet as possible, even though you will be putting so much time on them.

Make sure you are wearing the right shoes for the job

First of all, if you are working in conditions where slipping is a possibility due to wet floors or slippery surfaces, then make sure your shoes have non-slip soles on them. If you feel like you need some extra support for your arches then you can even put some implants inside of your shoes to help. You may also want to go with shoes that go a little further up your ankles so they add some support in that area as well, and you can avoid needing ankle injury treatment. Wear new shoes around the house for a while before you wear them for a whole work day, otherwise you may end up with a lot of blisters on your feet and ankles after you wear them all day for the first time.

Use acupressure to get relief

Your hands and feet have a lot of nerve endings in them that go to all different areas of your body. If your feet are tender, or sore, then you can press and rub on specific areas of your hands and feet in order to help your feet to feel a lot better. You can learn where the points are by doing a simple search online. A good point to remember is when you press on the right part, it will hurt; his is how you know you are on the right nerve.

Don't wear your shoes once you get home so your feet can breathe

As soon as you get home you should kick off your shoes to give your feet a much needed break. If you have to go outside real quick then you should slip on some slippers or flip flops for the short trip outside so you aren't putting your feet right back into those shoes you just got out of.
